Yesterday, A-252 left our station for the final time, in its current condition, and started its journey back to where it originally started from in 2004. It is currently being trucked back to Osage Industries in Linn, Missouri. Upon arrival, it will go through a vehicle re-mount/patient box refurbishment project and be returned to us sometime in April or May. This is an exciting project for our department, as we will have the equivalent of a brand-new ambulance when it returns.
The patient box will be refurbished with new paint, decals, exterior door handles and LED emergency lighting. The interior of the patient box will have new flooring, interior lighting, vinyl, and other upgrades installed within in. The refurbished box will be remounted on a new 2022 FORD F-350 4X4 chassis.
Partial funding for this project was made possible through the receipt of ARPA funds provided to the Fire District by the Douglas County Commissioners. The remaining portion of this project will be paid for using designated Fire District EMS funds, which are received from EMS service patient billings and donations received to support our EMS services.
Standy-by for updated photos as they are provided to us during the re-mount/refurbishment process.

This is wonderful! Although I’m left wondering what will be used in the meantime while it’s gone…?
