Have you ever wanted to serve your community?

Being a Volunteer Firefighter or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is your perfect opportunity!  As a Firefighter or EMT, you are given the opportunity to receive great training which is used to keep the citizens and visitors in your community safe.  In addition, you can help keep your family safe and achieve valuable job skills which could help you in the future.

Douglas County Fire District #5 is always seeking qualified, dedicated, hard working community driven men and women for the positions of Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician and Support Services.  Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • At least 18 years of age – Dedicated, reliable, strong work ethic, and posses the ability to work as part of a team
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Pass a department provided physician’s wellness screening
  • Possess a Valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • Obtain approval from the Board of Commissioners

As a Firefighter or EMT, you are a role model for the community.  You are afforded the chance to a make a difference for the citizens and visitors of our community.  You will have the opportunity to build long lasting friendships with your Firefighters and EMT’s, both from inside our organizations and from outside organizations.  Douglas County Fire District #5 has been the recipient of several past local, state and federal grants, which has allowed the district to in pace with the constant changing technology in firefighting and emergency medical equipment.  The purchase of this new equipment would have been impossible with our small budget if it was not for these grants.  Volunteers are an integral part of renovating and updating equipment the some of the funds we receive from these grants.  As a Volunteer Firefighter or EMT, you will enjoy quality training, new equipment and the opportunity to shape the future of Douglas County Fire District #5!
